Social Housing Finance Corporation received a Certificate of Collaboration from the Strategic Action and Response (STAR) Office of the Cabinet Secretary in a ceremony held at the office of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) in Makati on October 15.
OIC-Executive Vice President Atty. Junefe G. Payot represented the agency in the awarding ceremony, which was led by HUDCC Chairperson Eduardo D. Del Rosario and Cabinet Undersecretary Dale S. Cabrera. Also witnessing the presentation were Atty. Ann Margarette C. Vista, OIC-VP for Project Enforcement, Customer Relations and Complaints, and Elvira G. Inton, OIC-Manager for Customer Relations and Complaints Division.
The certificate states that SHFC complied with the requirements for collaboration for the implementation and operation of the 8888 Citizens’ Complaints Hotline such as the designation of focal and technical persons, attendance in the orientation and simulation seminars, and enrollment of the agency’s online account with the 8888 Hotline System.
“We in SHFC have to respond to every single query and complaint, especially because our clients are low-income families who are so vulnerable that timely housing assistance could spell the difference between life and death for them,” Atty. Payot explained. “It is their right to have adequate housing and it is our corresponding duty to uphold it. And in this time of climate change, we also have a moral duty to make sure that the Ondoy and Yolanda tragedies do not happen again. That is why we strive to give the best public service we can.”
SHFC got a compliance rating of 100 percent, handling all 48 complaints received through the 8888 portal and attaining the highest percentage among other Key Shelter Agencies.
For September alone, a total of one complaint under the 8888 portal, six walk-in inquiries on Information Public Assistance Desk (IPAD), and 110 inquiries from SHFC’s Facebook account were generated. The average response time for 8888 complaints is 70.5 hours as against the target of 72 hours.
