SHFC President Atty. Arnolfo Ricardo B. Cabling has vowed to fast-track the completion of housing projects for Typhoon Yolanda victims. In a dialogue with the local media on September 21 in Tacloban City, he said SHFC is now considering taking over the completion of a Community Mortgage Program housing project in Barangay Bacagay for victims of Typhoon Yolanda in 2013.
Construction of housing units in the said site has been marred by delays due to anomalies in collections by officials of Brigham Estate Homeowners Association led by mobilizer Siony Sia. SHFC has filed syndicated estafa and theft against Sia and her cohorts for failing to remit payments for the monthly amortization from housing beneficiaries. a
“We want to make sure the case is very tight because we really want to serve justice to Yolanda victims,” Atty. Cabling said. “Let us fight corruption together as we work to strengthen the project to make houses truly livable, adequate, and inclusive for poor Filipinos.”
"I will not stop until this project be placed in the right perspective and properly implemented, na hindi gagawing milking cow ng mga namamahala ng proyektong ito," he added, emphasizing that SHFC’s action is in line with the Duterte administration’s intensified fight against corruption.
